A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN

FAMILY LAKE FARM

 IN THE HEART OF ALENTEJO

by M.J.Silva

Take me to the video

I've walked marble-floored lobby of four and five-star hotels in New York City. I've been in rooftop terraces overlooking cityscapes that gleam like constellations of human ambition. And yet, I have never felt wealthier than when standing barefoot in the damp grass of Quinta da Saudade, where the air smells of earth and the whispering leaves tell stories older and higher than any skyscraper.

Luxury, they say, is about exclusivity, about having what others can only dream of. But what if the rarest, most exclusive experience is not a gilded suite in a glass tower but the quiet symphony of nature... Uninterrupted. Unfiltered.

The wet sand crackles under our Volvo station as we curb our way into Quinta da Saudade. It's 9.24 p.m. The mist curling over the alined cork oaks, like an ethereal embrace.
The house is simple, well designed. Remodeled with light decor. The kitchenet is fully equiped and waiting for me tiny packs of red fruit tea. The property carries a delicate scent of history. No doormen here, no sleek reception desks or key cards—only the owner receiving us walking from the outside fire, a simple metal key in my palm and a front door that greets us like an old friend, as it opens. We make sense here.

We immediately feel at home.

The Sound of Silence In The Cabine Video

Inside, the luxury is of a different kind: a coastal meets cottage decor promises warmth, a rustic square wooden table where meals are shared with laughter and dreams and deep conversations. A sofa-bed filled with stories and shared conversations waiting to be discovered. Outside, nature stretches as far as the eye can see, a living, breathing masterpiece more opulent than any gold-leafed ceiling.

Days here are measured not by ticking clocks but by the shifting light. Mornings bring the melody of birdsong, afternoons the dappled shade of ancient trees, and evenings a sky painted with stars, each one a testament to the universe’s quiet magnificence. The food is simple. Breakfast is served in a basket and a light knock on the door, with freshly made hot bread and cinnamon cake. The fruit grown in the garden or sourced from nearby farms, bursts with flavors no Michelin-starred chef will ever replicate.

Waking Up Like This in Quinta da Saudade Video

One evening, as I watched the outdoor fire pit, the embers glowing like tiny suns, I thought about the paradox of luxury. The world tells us that true opulence is found in rare jewels and silk-lined penthouses. But here, in the embrace of nature, I feel the richest I have ever been. Not because of what I own, but because of what surrounds me: the endless sky, the whisper of the wind, the grounding presence of the land itself.

We come to stay a night. We end up staying two more. We would have stayed here forever. You would too. For the first time, after two and something years of tremendous loss and grief, my soul returns lighter. Healed. Recharged.

Perhaps, in the end, the ultimate luxury is not in what we accumulate but in what we allow ourselves to experience. And in Quinta da Saudade, I found a wealth that no five-star hotel will ever offer—the profound, irreplaceable, unmatched elegance of simplicity.

You can contact us or your can refer our recomendation when you book your stay. Make sure you book your stay until the end of the summer. Then the Quinta da Saudade will be closing to the public for a stunning transformation. I've seen the project and can't wait to show you how even more stunning it's going to be.

Historically, FENG SHUI was used to orient buildings and spiritually significant structures.

Feng shui, also known as Chinese geomancy, is an ancient Chinese traditional practice that  claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment. The term feng shui means, literally, "wind-water".

When creating a home, one fundamental thing is to fill it with positivity. That's when Feng Shui comes in! Feng Shui allows your home to feel energized and balanced. And there are super simple ways you can improve the vibe of your home. Presenting three!

DECLUTTER

In Feng Shui, clutter takes up valuable space, blocks mental clarity and focus. It also blocks energy instead of allowing it to flow.  And does your home interior design scheme no favors.

We Tried It: Tuna & Veggies Pot Pie

Clutter also increases your stress levels, so cleaning up your spaces allows you not only live lighter and be more productive but also to start your day without chaos (even if you have kids).

It's incredible what an obstacle free environment does for you. Remove obstacles and try to make the paths as clear as possible. Rearrange as necessary. That way your space becomes more efficient and fluid.

TAKE IT TO THE GREEN LEVEL

In case of plants, less is never more! When in doubt, add more plants. plants add energy, bring vitality and some plants have benefits for your health. So in case of plants, it's always a win-win.

We Tried It: Mekabu Hydrating Styling Cream: curl-defining formula

METAL FOR THE WIN!

Add metal to your decor!
Metal is timely element that goes well in every environment. I's a beautiful element to add to your space. You can incorporate it as the legs on your dining table, or the chandelier in your kitchen ceiling. Or small metal objects in the bathroom. Metal helps with clarity, sharpness of thought, balancing energy and it can help productivity as well.

Give it a try and show us your before and after!

To be cozy and functional the kitchen doesn’t have to be big.

With a small kitchen you can make the same as if you had a big kitchen. However, you know what they say:  LOVE grows best in small spaces. When you have a tiny kitchen sometimes it might feel a little bit overwhelming and chaotic especially if you have a big family. However it is possible to make a small kitchen functional and organized. Even if you have a small kitchen you can still entertain, make it work, have fun while you cook and live the best out of the space.

So if you’re facing challenges with your tiny kitchen here are some tricks that you can use in your own kitchen to maximize your space and to make it more functional.

GET THIS YUMMY RECIPE

With small kitchens the biggest challenge is not only storage but also counter space right? But you can make it work!

1)Turn your drawers into counter space

Turn one of your drawers into a temporary counter. How do you do that? Take a piece of reclaimed wood or cut a wood plank. Now use it by opening for example the cutlery drawer and placing the reclaimed piece on top.

2)Create a wood cover for your stove and you can use it as extra counter space

Clear Glass Jars on Rack

3)Shelves

Add open shelves to the wall and display your plates and your spices and your jars with pasta and rice and all the foods that can be stored inside jars. Open shelves are functional, bring dimension  and help save space.

4)Build a fold down table.

Even  if you don’t have tons of space  you can add a fold down table to one of your walls.

5) Use the top of your cabinets and windows  for storage.

The top of the cabinets you can use them to store things that you don’t use so much and you can store those things in baskets or beautiful boxes and they will give not only a beautiful feel and coziness to the kitchen but the extra storage that you need  when you have a small kitchen.

Make the best out of your small kitchen!

Wood Floors

Wood floors are fundamental on the farmouse decor. You can use plain, stained, painted. And the larger the wood planks the more the feel of the farmhouse style. You can use throw rugs or larger rugs to give a more comfy look and farmhouse feel. You also use the rugs to define different areas. This is where the fun begins. You can go for pale tones or play with color. But let me tell you, a coastal rug goes pre-tty well with the farmhouse style, dont you think?

When it comes to renovation, the color palette we choose will set the mood and tone to the room.

Choosing a neutral color pallete will create a timeless environment that can grow as your kids grow.

Then you can play with the colors in certain details like wall art, throw pillows and other decor items.

In this case we played with the pinks, whites and greys in the wall art to add color to this babies' room.

Despite the layout of the room, one of the most important features is that there's enough space to play.

We absolutely adore the result. How about you?

COZYNESS WITH A NATURAL ELEMENT

By M.J.Silva

When choosing your home decor, there’s an element that never goes out of style. Either you’re a minimalist lover, a nautical style worshiper or a classic farmhouse style fan, there’s one element that connects all arquitecture/design styles throughout the world than this one.

SHOP THE LOOK

Whether you’re in New York, in Portugal or in Australia, wood is key element. Painted, stained or natural wood is the consensual choice of designers and home owners around the world.
Used in innumerous shapes, forms and tones, wood is warm, cozy, relaxing, and full of charm and character. It involves modern sensibilities and goes back to a simpler time. Wood brings the balance of old and new. It complements the minimalistic industrial style, toning down the iron and the highly geometric elements, bringing not only balance but also texture and smoothness to the space.

SHOP THE LOOK

In farmhouse style, as much as in nautical or cottage style wood is key. In this style is very common for designers to show a preference of reclaimed wood instead of freshly cut wood, bringing history into the homes. Whether in floors, window frames and design elements such as countertops, tables and wall art, wood is key when it comes to décor in this style.
Wood is versatile and adaptable and creativity is the limit when it comes to take this natural element and incorporate it in your own home. Whatever style you choose, one thing is for sure: wood will never go out of style and it will definitely make your house feel like a home.
